This week in Young Women's the Laurel's are having a Christmas Kickoff for their class activity!
I have asked all the girls to bring something fun from home that they don't want anymore! (a white elephant basically) I told them to wrap it up in the most appealing way they can and we are going to play an "exchange game" .............. I'm thinking it will be fun (but I've been wrong before!!)
I am also going to be teaching the Laurels how to make a paper Christmas ornament!
I tried several and have come to the conclusion that this one is the easiest and the BEST!! In my humble opinion!
The instructions I found online said to cut 6 strips of paper. I didn't like them. They are shown below ........... I added more strips and also cut a cute topper! I love these two!!
These (below) are the final Test Projects ....... I made the brown one and the light blue one 1st with the 6 strips!
SEE WHAT I MEAN! Not my favorite! Then I made 2 more with 10 strips and they are pretty good ....... BUT then I made the top left and put a topper on it and I love it!!
I cut out the poinsettia from an old Christmas card and mounted it on cardstock for some durability and to cover up the top of all the strips.
Really like this one so this is how the Laurels will be doing theirs.
This one with 10 strips isn't bad but a bout 3 more strips would have made it perfect! For it's topper I cut out 2 circle punches and glued them together and covered the top of the strips of paper! You can see the one in front doesn't have a topper and it doesn't look as finished!
The one below was made with circles from two different sizes of circle punches. I used green cardstock as a base and the colored pieces are from an old Christmas card.
I attached the two Christmas lights (which are cut with a punch) and it's OK but not my favorite either. I think the girls will enjoy making the round ornament the best.
LETS HOPE! lol
