And then I laid the blocks out with the strips going in different directions till I achieved the design I wanted.
I sewed all my blocks together and then put an edge around the entire quilt . Then I went to the store and purchased material for the back and the binding ....... (without bringing the quilt ....dumb!)
I bought a poka dot material that I thought had the colors of the strips in it. ........ not really!
It didn't look all that good but I decided it was going to have to work. After all, I'd already bought the material!!
I then laid out the top, center and back and pinned it together really well and started machine quilting.
Once I was done quilting, I cut the sides to even out my quilt.
I then sewed on the homemade binding and sat up till 12:30 last night hand sewing the binding on the back side of the quilt!
Whala !! All done. I like it BUT ...............
I name it my waves and bubbles quilt!! lol
UPDATE: I donated this quilt to my daughter's auction to raise money to donate to the Humanitarian Service for the Japanese Earthquake/Tusami diaster. It went for $70 dollars so I was pretty pleased!
She raised $345 dollars total! I was pretty proud of her!! Anyway, I felt like I made my quilt for a good cause (ie: to earn a value in my personal progress) and then to be able to donate it for such a good cause was an extra bonus! WIN, WIN !!
ha ha! yeah, they aren't too matchy matchy, but at least they're both cute! Maybe you and Chris are both colorblind! :0) You sure whipped that up fast! Good job- I REALLY need to learn how to do the stinking binding once and for all! Good job on the quilt...keeping it, or giving it away?
ReplyDeleteNot sure yet if I'll keep or give it away. Maybe if you have a girl, she'll get the ugly thing. (Or I'll make her one that matches. lol. And yeah, what the $%#@ was I thinking when I picked the fabric??? That'll teach me to take the quilt top with me next time! ha ha
